Simon Fraser University School for the Contemporary Arts

The School for the Contemporary Arts is committed to the study, production, and promotion of contemporary art. A comprehensive undergraduate curriculum and an interdisciplinary masters program are the core of the School’s activities. In the School, the theory and practice of art, the doing and thinking, are not separated. Theory and practice promote an awareness of the historical development of and the interrelationships among the arts. In addition, the School is committed to the innovative and creative application of evolving technologies within the framework and tradition of artmaking. Our goal is to equip students with a breadth of practical and critical skills within an interdisciplinary context. The ideal graduate will be capable of critically engaging with history and the present, as well as possess the flexibility and creativity to survive in a transforming world.
